Background

In August 2018, I was brought on to run social for FusionFest, an inaugural multicultural festival put on by the Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs Board. So how do you get people excited about a festival with no pictures from prior years and no set lineup?

Answer: You promote the essence of the festival. In my case, it was a celebration of the many cultures that make Orlando an amazing city. On our Instagram feed, I approached this in the most straightforward way possible, showcasing the nations’ flags that I knew were going to be represented at FusionFest. When viewers clicked on the flags, they caught a glimpse into that cultures food, music, dance, or fashion.
